So i got a free AGP sawtooth and thought id do an upgrade, i have done this once already as a project but it sold for about the same that it cost (not including my loss on trying to flash a gfx card haha) so im doing things on the cheap in no rush this time around.
The Machine was free, 128mb ati 9000 cad was about £25 all memory free (1.2GB at mo) 80GB HD from a broken dvdr/dvr recorder, and a 200GB free (partitioned so all is usable (wish i knew how to do that on the 1st one.) £15 superdrive Pioneer £20 and 1.5 fastmac cpu for £120 ( think - just no way of getting these things cheap) also got a wireless 'b' pc card that happened to have the same chipset as airport but had a built on aerial that blocked the door from closing, so i dremelled a gap in the case metal haha, its not too bad
Anyway, on to the case. i successfully got all the panels off with no breaks. and i am half way through soaking the side panels in Isopropyl Alcohol (100% from maplins) which is working nice, just need to wet and dry them too as a little scratched.
Im not totally decided on a look, though i am thinking subtle, maybe black and white or a brushed metal look somehow. anyway, pictures to come tomorrow.
yes i did, was about £10 for 1 litre, takes time but works good. I am now planing on using tcut (car polish) to smooth things out on the scratches before painting, still thinking black, it seems to be the new black at apple
Hi guys, been a bit busy lately, I'm having trouble polishing scratches out of the side panels. I'm currently using abrasive car polish and a rag but it doesnt seem to be enough, any other tips?, there are no really deep scratches just scuffs really. This and the painting are the only things holding this build back (that plus getting leopard to install with a 3rd party cpu but i have the info for that )
