Does anyone know if it is possible to put the hard drive
from a 40Gb 3G 'Pod into a brand new 30Gb iPod Video?
Help would be appreciated.

Should work but you would have to end up doing a repair in itunes and lose all of the songs that are preloaded onto the drive.

Connectors are different on 5G iPod HDs compared to earlier ones. Sorry dude. I think there might be 3rd party drives available with a choice of connector.
