I bought an old 20gb ipod off of a friend for 50 bucks. (black&blue screen), and it was working for a couple days, and one day I turn it on, and I get a folder with a "!" sign. says to go to apple support, so I head on my way over there. Put me through a bunch of steps, and still got the same error. I plugged it into my pc, and It says that the restore option cannot be done because the ipod is corrupted. The iPod also makes alot of loud disk scratching sounds. would this be something I could fix?
UPDATE! I have gotten the case open, and unplugged the hard drive. I'm pretty sure its a 4th gen ipod. Its a 20gb model with a blue backlight. Has the regular touch wheel like the new ipods. In 4th gen., there was a 20,40, and 60gb model. Since they were all in the same casing, which means the same size, can i use the 60gb hard drive in the 20gb model?
