Euhm.. right i wanted to do a nice case paint mod but when i yanked of the top of the lappy (where the logo is on) just to find out that the case is molded out of white plastic. None of it is clear plastic. so i scratched and scratched the inside no paint... this is lame
was this a known thing? did i miss something somewhere?

it was the white G3 ibooks that were clear plastic with paint on the inside. the ibook G4's are not painted and the white is part of the plastic itself.

I had two G3 models that are different versions, one had the ice keys with "iBook" in the Times new roman font and another had normal keys with "iBook" in a font like veranda or something. I cannot remember which top case I put on which laptop but I do remember it wouldn't fit. So I am not sure a G4 would fit onto a G3 but hell I've never done it you give it a try!
Hope that helps!

Don't recall actually trying it, But I would bet the back panel is the same. The bottom case will be different, though shouold be possible with some work.
the older G3's had the clear, the new ones didn't. The ones that had the silver palm rests had the clear backs. I think they were the 600MHz ones. The later 800 and 900MHz ones used white plastic.
