How did this go under the radar? I never heard anything about Fastmac releasing this card. I remember when I was looking for an upgrade about a year and a half ago. I wanted the Powerlogix dual 1.33 so bad for the L3 cache, but it was so pricey, and it was Powerlogix... yuck. Plus, they were in very short supply. I thought once someone finally made more dual 7455's they'd go quick.
$419 is not bad at all if you ask me. Does anyone know anything more about this upgrade? The XLR8 cpu database doesn't seem to have any entries for it. My OWC 1.467 is great, but a dual would just be a hot rod. I want one.
I got a single 1.4 FastMac up to 1.7 with water. I am sure with some more voltage you could to 1.5 dual with good cooling.
Wow, THAT would be cool. If only I had money that I didn't need. Then again, I just bought myself an apple display. Does that make me a hypocrite?
I wonder how it would compare to the 7448 dual 1.8 that Newertech finally cranked out. I remember somewhere (on XLR8, maybe) seeing some benchmarks between 1.4 GHz 7455's (w/ L3) and 1.8 GHz 7447's. The 1.4 holds it's own fairly well against a 1.8 7447. Granted, the 7448 is much more stable and preforms better than the 7447, but an OC'd 7455 may give it a run for it's money. Quite literally, too:
