Well i've been looking into this for some time now and finally found a way to install a Cold Cathode Kit into my PowerMac G5 desktop. I always thought the G5 would have GREAT looks if it were lit up from the inside! SO I FINALLY DID IT!!
i purchased a 12" dual Cold Cathode Kit from ebay for about 8$
I installed them the day I got them and I've been smiling about it ever since!!
Well, here are the pictures, Enjoy! Give Me Some Feedback, What you think about the Mod! Questions, Comments
I just installed some 4" duals again, they light up the rest of the G5, i put one above the CD drive cuz it was looking a bit dark there.. lol.. so i will get more pictures if you guys would like some, i love this Neon mod!!
and yea, Protocol i was a step ahead of you, 2 days ago i installed 2 - 4" neons and in the perfect spots, looks much better!! I still have the 12" tubes in there but in these next shots i have those ones turned off!!
G5's and Mac Pro's are the only systems that look good lit up IMO. Nice work!
I agree man, they are the better Macs to light up cuz of the case design, and the fact that i can pull the side panel off and light up the inside and it is still fully functional and pretty slick looking.
I think now, it looks so much better with the 4" neon addition i made, hope you guys like it! =D
Yea, i actually thought about doing something to the underside, i thought of putting the 12" neon thats in the front, underneath the case, but then i though it would be cooler and look better if i used the EL wiring and go around the base of it.
