I'm not so hot with front panel boards, unless your ATX board has a two pin power-on connector, in which case you can bypass the front panel board and wire it to the power button instead.

Do you know the voltage of the fan? There are usually plenty of spare 5V and 12V leads off most PSUs. If your case is from a pre Mirror Door G4, then you could probably just swap in a PC ATX supply. I presume fan speed is controlled by software via the PCI bus?
Maybe you could just swap it for PCI fan with a molex connector.

Simple fix, get a new fan or rewire the old fan to use a 12volt lead.

k, now im a little informed, but i need to know some things more.
1. Does anybody know the voltage of the fan? If i knew this, i thought i could try removing the power port from the old psu and try wiring it to one of the ports on the ATX one. And also, Do i need the fan at all? I wont be using hot pcis or anything...
2. I saw in one of the links where somebody soldered some wires onto the front button panel to hook it up to the pc mobo...Can i do the same by just soldering some wires onto the sharp metal protrudances on the underside of the panel? If it is possible, can someone tell me where each of them has to go?
3. i drilled some mobo standoffs into the case, but im having difficulty removing the old ones. Someone suggested dremeling them off, but i ont have a dremel lying around...any ideas?

Thnx for all the replies! smile

1. The fan uses 12 volts

2. I would get a new board and  two switches and make it as the power and reset. You can get the parts from http://www.allelectronics.com

3. A drill will work if you had a grinding bit. Go to walmart and buy a dermel grinding bit and use it on the drill.

The quickest and easiest way to get rid of the old motherboard standoffs is to drill them out from behind, using a 2.5mm drill bit.

Here's my work so far (http://webfusion.net.nz/g4pc).

I've run into the problem where the board hits the CDROM. The drive I have is 20.5cm long, i think i can fix the problem by using a 17cm CDROM.
Any other suggestions welcome.
