Hello, I am about to sell my g4 dual 1gighrtz mac (I think a sawtooth) to my roommate and he needs a wireless PCI device to add to it..
What is compatible on the cheap?
I see on ebay people are selling 'apple express pci' compatible for $50 - $70.. so inother words, they are buying some cheap ones and marking them up and selling them to us because we don't know better.
Alot of them are a bit hit and miss. There are manufacturers (Belkin is just one) who chop and change their chipsets without changing model numbers and things. The only way to be sure is to get the store assistant to open the box and check for a broadcom chip on the card.

I heard the Linksys Wireless G WET11 works in OS X without any drivers. It's not a add-in card it turns your ethernet into wireless, used mostly for gaming consoles.
Get the Buffalo Tech WL12-PCI-G54...i bought it for about $30 from Newegg. I did some research and found it to be the cheapest Apple compatible card. I checked system profiler, saw it there, switched on Airport, it's been running smooth ever since. Just checked, it is now $35.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833162111
