I have just got my imac g5 from repairs and i don't see a difference really i am think geting rid of it and have been offered 350 or a mac mini instead  what should i do? which is faster? i do video editing sometimes and i do photoshop work sometimes

The new Mac minis will toast it for video. The Core Duo chips compete with faster dual core G5s for encoding at any rate.
What did you have repaired on the iMac?

I own a iMac G5 1.8 17'' with 1 gb of ram (hopefully getting more ram soon!). I also own I a Sony HDV-HC1 which records in 1080i resolution. When importing onto the iMac is imports at 1/4 speed or 1/2 speed which is pretty slow. The computer is fine once the video is imported. Now, my sister has a MacBook which has a 1.83 core duo processor and only 512 ram. When I imported onto this computer it was import in almost real time which is a huge improvement. I think even if you got the 1.66 core duo with some more ram you would be golden.

i had the logicboard replaced and the audio bit repair and super drive , but they couldn't fix it at the 1st and i had this done just before my warrenty had ran out and i don't want it to break with no warrenty plus i am sick of how loud it is ? so do u reckon that £350 is a good trade?

350 is REALLY low.

Its not so bad for a 17", but its awful for a 20". You will always get a better price on eBay than you do from a reseller in the UK at any rate. The reseller has to take VAT into account.

A trade for a intel dual core mini is a fair trade if its new.  If you are going to be editing HiDef, you need power and a lot of it.  I would pick up a dual G5 tower or even a Mac Pro if you can afford it.

I have a Samsung 940BW 19" widescreen, and I LOVE it. Its easily one of the best monitors I've had. It only costs about $200-250. If you want something a little better, I'd suggest the Samsung 20" or 22". They're VERY nice monitors. The 22" is a little more pricey though.
