but the main tutorial I found was for a blue & white, but I've got the silver and grey one, but not the mirrored doors one.  Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent tutorial? thanks!  smile

You have a quick silver if I am not mistaken.  There are a couple of articles on this site as well as xlr8yourmac.  What speed is it, I can help you out with that. >:D

This is a 'graphite' G4:

There are several models which look the same as this one, It is the oldest G4 case design.

This is the quicksilver:

This is the Mirrored Drive Doors:

The last of the G4s looked like this.

Easy way to ID any Mac is to use the system profiler and get Mactracker (http://mactracker.ca). System profile lists a 'Machine Model'. You can serach Mactracker for yours.

There should be a sticker on the back of the case listing the system specs and model unless the sticker has been removed.

Speaking of modding G4 processors, anyone have a tutorial to overclock the sonnets out there for the Sawtooths and up? I have a SP 1.4GHz that i would like to try to get to 1.5 or maybe even push to 1.6. That's if it's even possible to get it to overclock at all.

I suspect sonnet overclock them as much as possible before they ship. You would need to have plenty of extra cooling before attempting this.

Have to remember in the PC world overdrive chips are heavyly overclocked CPUs. Probly goes the same for the PPC CPUs. If you find a way to oveclock it I would toss in a G5 heatsink or even water cool the system.
