Ive tried that a few times without luck...this really sucks...but if I have to send it back im taking the airport car out of it! The guy guaranteed it no doa
How do I know if its charging?? I think the power supply might be trashed but im not sure..one more question..if the charger he sent me is the g4 kind will it still work with the ibook clamshell? From what I can tell it the g4 charger not the g3 clamshell..
As long as it physically fits it is the correct one. The clamshells shipped with yo-yo adaptors. The newer adaptors use a smaller form factor. Though just because it fits does not mean its working....
Ok I got it working! The end of the charging wire was burnt out..so we cut and soldered it back together and it works..the only problem I have now is this laptop apparently use to belong to a school and I can only log in as a student because the other accounts are password protected...is there any startup options (bois/menu) in which I can restore the laptop back to it original state?
Your best bet is a clean OSX install. All those accounts are garbage. Its actually rather irresponsable of the seller not to do that for you. I am glad you got it working though.
Ok that would probly be best...Also about airport, it wont let me connect to my home network..do I have to have some special hub or can I use a router?
Any wireless router should work just remember that that ibook only speaks 802.11b so the router must be set to speak b as well. Dual mode (b/g) should be fine. The airport icon is in the upper right of the menu bar and clicking on it should summon a drop down menu showing available networks to join.
Oh ok, one more question..if im gonna reinstall the os, will tiger work? Thats the only os I can get locally..and I didnt receive a cd with the laptop. This is weird I set my router to g mode instead of mixed and the clamshell didnt find it..but I put it back to mix and it found it..but everytime I click on ie it comes up saying "server not found" . Also I plugged in my ethernet and it still wont connect to the net..
Tiger can be used if you have planty of RAM, but you may need to use Xpostfacto unless you have firewire on board. Also you'll likely need a DVD-ROM as Tiger CDs are rare beasts indeed.
