I have begun a new mod today. The donor is a MDD 2003 dual. Here is a run down of whats going in and a couple of pics. MDD G4 Lian Li 60+ll atx case 1gb memory with spreaders 9800xt OC (flashed pc version) 750GB storage with 250 for OS/apps and 500 for storage Pioneer 111D burner Acard Sata card Asestek waterchill h20 Danger Den cpu block Panaflo fans Vantec fan control Zalman hd heatpipe cooler USB 2.0 4 pt. etc. etc.
These pics are of the case and h20 fitting for install. As you can see, I have a long way to go, but I will update as soon as I can.
I recieved the Danger Den h20 block today. It fits perfectly over the two G4 chips. It looks of great quality, though I wish it had been polished more. Here are a couple of pics.
Here are some more pics. The mb plate has been cut and fitted and I am constructing a new back plate. This case is so small compared to the coolermaster I just worked on.
Heres some more pics and an update. The rear patch work is done and I am still waiting for the cnc'd back plate to come. I wired the power button to the pm front board along with the pwr led. I wired the hd activity light to the h20 board to show that it is running when booted. Most of the wiring is finished, a little more sleeving. The front is done except for the Panaflo for the hds and modding the Lian Li 3.5 opt. plate to fit the fan controller. I get the vga cooler today and most of the rest of the parts today so I will post an update soon.
I figured I would post up the work on my Das style media keyboard for this mod. I have all of the letters done and starting on the calulator keys now. Then its on to the big keys. After I get them all sanded I am going to polish the key a little to get an even look. So far so good. The media keys will stay labeled as I use them less and will forget what they each do! LOL.
I ran four long threaded bars through the cpu and then up through some 1/8" thick aluminum plate which I cut to fit. Then I used the springs and nuts that came with the block.
It turned out that the h2o was no cooler than the heatsink/dual 80mm fan setup. It was also louder. I reverted back and it works much better. Really G4s dont run hot enough to warrant water cooling unless the are overclocked to the hilt.
I included a pic of another mod I worked on which was the fastest overclocked single large cache G4 on the planet. It was watercooled and kept a cool 29C!
