I have a lombard that was running 10.4 tiger via xpostfacto. After the 10.4.6 update it wont start up, it just stalls on the apple. No safe mode, won't boot off of a 10.3 disk (I don't have a tiger disk handy) nothing. In verbose mode it gets too "BmacEnet: : monitorlinkstatus link down" it will pick up the connection if I plug in the ethernet, but it still stalls here. I have let it run for plenty of time and still nothing. Anyone have anything similar happen to them? Or maybe just ideas? Reinstalling isn't that big a deal but I can't get it to even boot from a cd.
Tried booting from CD using option instead of 'C'? That sometimes works on Lombards since they don't have the startup manager as I recall.
Failing that, disconnect the HD, boot it from the Panther disc, then make sure that Panther is selected in the Startup Disk pref pane. Then shut down, reconnect the HD and you should be able to run utilities and/or reinstall.
