This looks pretty cool. Too bad they aren't waiting to use the regular MacBooks... But it's cool, all the same. You can buy one on eBay when they put the next one up.

There is obviously a demand for these, the first auction ended at $1500! Anyone see what i-tablet went for? A little shady is the fact that the web site shows a perfect photoshopped unit, i-tablet looked pretty homemade, which is cool as long as you understand thats what your getting. If you read the auction description, these guys build the unit only after you buy one. Have they built a prototype yet and what will it really look like?

why would you buy something like that if its not even compatible with inkWell?

Though, I confess, if Apple produced one (it would be much better), that in of itself may create demand.

Looks like this would be a better option. It uses the same driver (I think) that the i(-)Tablet does. Plus, you've still got a usable keyboard. If you really want full tablet functionality, though, the iTab is currently your only viable option. This seems to be right up your alley, xbetterforworsex... You could try modding one of the TrollTouch iBooks.

I am so into this idea. How difficult would it be to rebuild the hinge on myiBook with one from a PC tablet, Like this one:

allowing the screen to rotate? Difficult yes but I think it would work, as long as the cables have enough play for the slightly different routing. Even if you could not rebuild the hinge, you could always use the fixed flip-screen set up like iTab.

Much harder nut to crack is the tablet. Its not a touchscreen, but a tablet in a real tablet PC, made by Wacom, The thin breadboard sits behind the screen. Look here:

If you read the data sheet it basically a serial port. Wiring this is a little out of my league but I think it could be done.

Touchscreens do not a tablet make, they only emulate a mouse and don't work, as far as I know, with inkwell which requires a proper, pressure sensitive tablet. iTab is not compatible with inkwell. With a touchscreen only one thing, stylus, finger, frenchfry, whatever can contact the screen, so no resting your hand on the surface as you draw or write. Try writing with your hand completely off the paper and see what I mean.
