I have an Apple Performa series 5260/100. I burnt a CD on my eMac running 10.2.6. I just used the default burning process, no apps. I burnt the image files for OS 7.5 for the Performa. Is there any way that I can get this to read. Maybe update, or if anyone has an idea, just send it my way. Thanks again.

Have you tried booting with it (starting up and pressing "c") or is it simply not reading it either way? Is there an OS on the system already, or did you install a new HD?

If you did all the normal procedures (PRAM, disconnect the HDD to see if boot w/ just CD, logic board reset, etc.) you just may have a hateful drive or a bad burn.

The CDROM in that thing is pretty old. Some older ones don't like CDRs.

It's probably the CD-ROM. That model uses IDE. You'll have to do some searching around but you shouldn't have too much problem finding a half-way working cdrom that will run what you need. You may want to check compatibility, because these old Macs are fickle as school girls.

Depends on the OS.If you have 9.1 on there you shouldn't have too much trouble finding an optical drive which will read CDRs, since 9.1 will have drivers for all drives shipped in Macs up to the G4 Digital Audio around mid 2001.
