Ok, so I now have a fairly fresh (gently used) 2.5 dual.
The case cries out for some sort of light.
If you look at the attached image you can see the SATA connectors on the OEM Maxtor. (hopefully it did actually attach!)
The terminals in question are circled in red. What is this mystery set of two prongs?
Maxtor's web site is downright frustrating to find any data on the connector pins. Anyone here know by chance? Or for that matter, what the maximum forward current draw is for it if it is indeed a connector for a L.E.D.?
posting images is a bugger in this forum. i just got done with a HDD LED but it was from a 2.5in ide drive. the drive was screwed up, and inturn screwed up my G5 while it was still installed.. hope you have better luck than me :S

Do a search on google for a IDE pinout. You can splice into the ide controller for the HD LED. Same pinout goes for a laptop based 2.5 HD, the extra pins are for power but the frist 40 pins are the same.
