I know this isn't completely Mac related, but I know we have PC gamers and users who frequent this site, and also switchers. So, with that said, I have been waiting too long to build a gaming PC, and now is a good time for me. Perhaps it isn't the best time because of all the recent and expected advances in technology, but it would still be perfect for me. I believe I have found the perfect board for my Athlon G4: the Biostar TForce 6100-939. It has nForce 410 and GeForce 6100 chipsets, a PCI-X 16x slot, 5.1 channel audio, support for socket 939 Athlon 64 FX X2s... It seems to have it all. I've read some customer reviews, and it seems that the only regrets have been minor, such as "no FireWire" or "no gigabit ethernet." Otherwise, people are ecstatic. And I am very excited... I can't wait to hear what y'all have to say.
EDIT: I would go all-out and get the N4SLI-A9, which also has gigabit ethernet, but the slots wouldn't line up, and that would be a disaster... Plus, I think one 7800 GT or GTX will give me good enough graphics.

As a long time PC builder (for gaming) and a supporter of AMD, I'd say its a great choice. I have used Biostar Mb's in several PCs and they are stable and easy to configure. If you really need gigabit or firewire, you can always add a card later. I say GO FOR IT!:)

Hey, to each his own. Plus PCs are much better for gaming. At least you are putting it in a cool case. I too long for kick ass hardware builds, which only PCs really offer. As for windoze though, it still sux. -maestro
Sounds like all there are are minor problems, which is great... I welcome continuing feedback, however. In terms of FireWire, I plan on getting a card like this, and as far as gigabit ethernet goes, I'm not that concerned. 10/100 should be just fine for LAN parties, right? We use an AirPort network at home, so the only other card I'd need (other than the 7800) would be an 802.11g card. I was thinking (if there's room) I'd attach a Bluetooth USB dongle to one of the front ports, keeping it inside the case, out of the way. Originally, I wanted to get a combination Bluetooth-802.11g card, but it seems there's really only one option, and it's only Bluetooth v1.2. I think a v2.0 dongle would be safer in terms of upgrade longevity (or whatever you want to call it). Thoughts?

I still run into people that use old 3com 10mb nics and they are able to still play just as well as the next PC. Just depends on how many people are going to be playing in the lan party. 10/100 is just fine for just about any number of systems that are going to be hooked up on the lan. The only thing I face when I host is a system fast enough to host the games me and my friends like to play. But im talking about 32+ people too, when you go that big then a 10/100/1000 will come in handy on the host system. So really and truly you're good to go.
