recently bought an ibook g3 600mhz off ebay and waiting for it to arrive any day now, however it doesn't come with any software including the operating system, so basically its blank, my friend gave me his to get it going, but i'm not sure if it will work, do you just insert and install normally? or is there something specific you have to do before hand? or did i just plain got ripped off?
What you should do is boot up from the OS CD (I'm assuming it's OS X) by pressing and holding down the "C" key after pressing the power button. Once you get to the load screen and the little spinny-thingy starts spinning, you can let go of the "C" key. Now click on the "Utilities" menu item, scroll down to "Disk Utility," and click on the mounted hard drive volume. Go to the "Erase" tab and do a complete erase, including free space. Then go to "Partition" and format it how you'd like. Then just install the OS. Pretty simple, eh?
