Im just working on a beige g3 atx mod, i have currently loaded os9 onto it, and control it via VNC.
But how do i get os 10.3 or 10.4 onto it? (i haven't got an old mac monitor). Is it possible to install osx using xpostfacto on a newer machine, and still use it on the beige?

Hmm yea, i think i have a old graphics card somewhere. But it might boot if i install osx on another mac, and then use xpostfacto on the beige? Think ill try that anyway.

Did you read the instructions on xpostfacto. You are almost there. Just pop in your osx install disk after you have installed xpost. You can get an adaptor for the monitor by the way. -maestro
Hmm yea, but i don't really want to spend anything on an adapter, if i can avoid it in any way . Been using xpostfacto before (installed osx on my powerbook g3). Well ill give it a try tomorrow after work.

Ohh, btw. worked out fine, used xpostfacto to install osx on my 233 mhz imac, and then moved the HD to the beige. Runs much better than os9, when using it as a file server.

Which version did you use in the end? I never went further than 10.2.8 on any of my Beiges (Now have 5 of 'em!), since its supported and I wanted them to run as Xgrid agents and not much else). I found it pretty damn sluggish, but none of them had much RAM. It did boot with as little as 96MB once. How much does yours have?
well, i ended up installing 10.3, turned off all the unnecessary eye-candy like effects and "window shadows" etc.
Currently i have 320 mb ram installed, and running osx of a dedicated (and very silent) HD.
Runs fine, for my use anyway... As i only use it for server purposes, i don't really use the interface much, might be too slow to use as a "real" computer...
