i have come the top half of an old ibook clamshell and was wondering if there is any way to use this as an external display? it has two connections coming out near the hing and the airport antenna has been cut. any input on how i could achieve this would be greatly appreciated.
many people have asked this question, and have all received the same answer now, it is my time to pass the knowledge onto you without sounding ridiculous and epic, here goes: yes, it is possible, but you are better off buying a new display the lcd requires and proprietary connection to the logic board the parts involved cost hundreds of dollars you could probably buy a good Samsung or ViewSonic 19" lcd for half of what it would cost to buy the connection/other parts

Sadly 99% of laptop LCDs can't be easily modifyed. You would have to build a display controllor, 99% of them are built into the motherboard. The ones i've came across that don't have the display controllors built in are outdated 286 ACER laptops but only push EGA in mono color and the frame rate is really bad.
