Hi All

I was wondering if there is a way to easily reduce the noise of the fan in my GF's Emac?

its MORE noisy than my stock QS and so much so that while watching movies two rooms away I can hear it during the quieter bits frown

This is REALLY getting on my nerves.

Thanx for any ideas/help

Loophole

BTW its a 2001 1Ghz ATI emac.

Several things:

1) Make sure the fan is clean. A good blast with a can of air can do wonders.

2) Make sure there's room for airflow. Air turbulence causes a lot of noise

3) Consider replacing the fan :P

if you're going to replace fans, go for Panflo, maestro speaks highly of them, and i just ordered
two 80mm's for my upcoming case, they're AMAZING
also, if you wanna risk it for a biscuit, glue them in. no screws = almost no vibration

also at xpcgear.com you can get vibration dampening kits
its a little rubber thing that goes around the fan
if you took a look at it, im sure you could just make your own, save a few bucks
