Well I need some help with my modded iMac. Some of you know that I have modded my tray-load iMac to use a Slot-Load DVD drive. Well I maxed out the memory to 256MB and slaped on Mac OS X 10.1.5. One problem I face is playing DVD movies. I know my iMac can play DVDs just fine because i've dealt with less on a PC. Anyway, when I load the Apple DVD Player it says that my iMac is supported. Is there a way to make it bypass that and force it to play DVDs or maybe a diffrent DVD player program? Also can I upgrade my VRAM to 8MB or higher?

My PowerBook (G3 Lombard) is a fairly similar machine to your iMac. Same RAM, similar graphics and clock speeds etc. The DVD player is one of the few parts of OS X which does not run on this machine. If you are getting the unsupported message, then you cannot run it on yours either. You could try VLC instead. http://www.videolan.org

There's another one called MPlayer. Don't know where to get that, never tried it.

Did you try VLC? When ever I have issues with the DVD, I use it and it always seems to work.
