I was planning on painting my iBook G4 and I have no trouble taking off the top and bottom casing but what would I have to put on the iBook to make the paint stick and what kind of paint should I buy? I also took apart the battery cover and tried to remove the paint from it. I've sanded the cover and soaked it in alchohol for 15 minutes the first time and then 3 hours the second. The paint refuses to come off. What should i do?? any help would be appreciated.
I also wanted to know if painting the ipod would be a similar process. (I intend to paint my ibook and ipod a glossy black.)
Well it may not be that. I've noticed that the newer ibooks don't look like clear plastic with paint on the back. They look like it was made entirely of white plastic. Depending on what model You have that may be the problem.

yep, some of the g4 ibooks, maybe all g4 ibooks are a frosted plastic. Not painted inside. However, if it is painted inside you need to use 99% isopropyl alcohol. You can pick it up at any of your local medical supply centers.

I'm using 91% isopropyl alcohol which is probably just as strong as 99%. I'm starting to think that my iBook model is not painted at all but the plastic itself is white. I guess I just have to paint over it, thanks for the help.

Use finger nail polish remover that has acitone. Soak it for a hour and then use a real fine thing of steel wool (the type you use for drywall sanding, not the type for scrubing dishes). Then repete untill all paint you want off is off.
