I recently wrote an article on my mdd to G5 case conversion. I have a part 2 in the works, BUT, I was so excited by the progress, I had to post. After an hour of running four programs continuiously here are my temperatures: CPUs 45.1 C HD1 27.0 C HD2 33.0 C HD3 32.0C Now that is freaking cool for an MDD! In its mdd case my temps were considerably higher. Hmmm....after I get done with my articles it may be time to overclock even higher! B) :woohoo:  :cheer: :side: -maestro
You know, I was considering vapor cooling for my g3. Pretty expensive though. Just read a great article on it in CPU. Now I wonder if one of the manufacturers would let me test one! -maestro
Vapor cooling? someone wanna explaine that a little more? sounds cool but also a little dangerous. How does it work? any links?

Vapor Phase Cooling is an uncommon method in the world of overclocking. In very basic terms, you build an evaporator which is the CPU, GPU or North-Bridge heatsink. The evaporator connects to a condensor which in turn is connected to a compressor. Most people use a mix of R290(Propane) and R507a refrigerant gases. Some people will use cascade vapor phase cooling which is a bit more complex and can achieve temperatures below -100 C. Typical temperature ranges for Vapor Phase Change Cooling is about -20 to -90C, depending on the gases, compressor and evaporator that's being used.
Just to see, I turned all of the fans on high. At idle, CPUs 41.2! I just can't believe how effective this mod has been. I planned on a part 2 mod guide, but heres a couple of pics anyway.
Wow, thanks for the props guys. I am going to write more specifically in a mod guide coming up here probably this weekend. I too am very impressed with the quietness and cooling. After all, I stole the idea from Apple (cooling zones). I am going to be starting three more mods coming up here soon and will probably use a similar format in a different case. Thanks again. -maestro
