I have hooked up my iMac DV logic board with ATX power supply, when i turn the power supply on the ATX power supply starts up and i can see that the 3.3v led on the logic board lights up but after that nothing happens, there is no HD activity or any picture, if i take the data cable out of the HD and turn the PS on then the HD spins up and the 3.3v led on the logic board lights up but still nothing on the screen.

You might have too much or not enough power going to the logic board. I've seen many diffrent pinouts and diagrams for this mod. I can't tell you what one works or not. Just look up another pinout and compair them.
Im using the instructions found at http://www.ct-scan.com/iMacATX/ (it's the only one i've found). Could you post links to other pinouts that you have found?
