I have been looking for the low cost power-up for my Blue & White g3...Does anyone have experianc with the XLR8 g4 zif upgrade? Seems to be the best deal if it works...

Any ideas if I should get a fast g3 or a g4 upgrade card, I hope to play a few games if I can get my system up to it...

A g4 only helps with altivec enabled software. I myself would still go with a 500-600mhz g4 none the less. Some games are better with a g4. Anyway, what video card do you have? I have the original Radeon which outperforms the 7000, but if I were you, I would buy the 9200. An sata setup would bring up your computers speed considerably. -maestro

don't get a G4 over 600mhz. the sonnet 700-1ghz upgrades lower the B&W and Yikes bus from 100mhz down to 66mhz. sonnet says this was the only way to get these speed G4's stable on the boards they have.
I have seen benchmarks that show little gain in the 700-1ghz (66mhz bus) over a 500-600 g4 with 100mhz bus. 200 bucks for a G4 600 zif is a good price.
