Is there a guide or process to add hard drive activity lights to a G5. I have seen mods on the past where person modified the motherboard to have led flash with hard drive activity.
Wanted to know if there is similar mod for the G5 (1.6ghz).
The mods you have seen probably use an IDE interface for the HDD. They ground an LED to pin 39. G5's use SATA as their interface. I took a look at the pinout. I don't think there is currently enough documentation out yet to do that for SATA.

Ok I have never been inside a g5... but I was installing a bigger Hard Drive in my Blue & White g3 today and noticed the green leds on the mainboard flashing with hard drive access. I would think you could un-solder one of theses and extend via light gage wire to the out side of the case, of course this depends on if the g5 has the leds on the logic board
