I am a teachher who has access to a lot of miscelaneous old Apple suff that my school is tossing in favour of G5s, and I convinced my tech to give me a G3 AIO to rip apart to learn about modding computers for fun and fame.
So now I was hoping members would know whhether the AIO can be separated from its monitor and case without electrocuting myself? The Apple site says that
" the external built-in video port is not a separate graphics port like on the Power Macintosh G3 Minitower and Desktop models. The Power Macintosh G3 AIO only has one graphics controller, it drives both the internal and external displays and is meant for video mirroring, therefore, there are some limitations on the video modes supported for external monitors."
So could I pul the guts out and put it in a new case OR would I be best to just do a Vanity Mod to the case?
I was going to do a mod similar to the iPC with my all in one so I was asking the same VGA question. Whitlock found this one for me and I think it'll have your answer too.
Thanks for the site address, BUT it was not the mod answer I was thinking of. I was hoping that I could ditch the monitor and the bulky case and put the guts in a differnt case altogether with lots of silly lights.
Looking at the other site denies that this would be possible, because the monitor is hardwired and won't diappear really. But then again there might be some weird way.
ugg, my last post contained way too many spelling erros for a teacher.
