Newbie here, looking for anyone who may have info on the posibility of moding a powerbook screen to use as a 2nd monitor for a desktop. I'd like to make something akin to the digital picture frames seen on other pages here, but have it connected to my desktop as an extended desktop where I stash iTunes and other pallets, while hanging on the wall next to me. Is it possible to mod the wiring of the pbook screen for a VGA or standard mac connector?
To my knowledge pretty much every laptop screen has its own particular controller card, that is designed to work with the laptop but not in any sense VGA or DVI. So you would need a special controller card designed for that LCD with VGA, DVI, etc. connection on it.
