Hey, I was wondering, will we ever be starting a MacMod.com chat area? I have seen a few, such as the one inteagreated into Yahoo's memeber-websites. But awile back I saw a table saw blade website that had a instant messenger, very simple, but it got the job done... I think it would be intresting if we could have an easy area for the memebers to talk, we might get more hits, and the website wouldn't be in the backround the whole time, when we're waiting for someone to post on our precious ideas... Being 15, IM's are a major part of my life, since around the age of 9, so I personaly would love to see a MacMod chat area.

I like the idea of a chat on the site. It would be a great touch, but I think it would be neglected after the novelty wore off. Something that could keep a chat session together and going is maybe a weekly chat, where a few predetermined subjects are chosen and we work off of each other. From what I understand, incorperating a chat into the site w/o going to places like Yahoo! can be done.

I have liked the idea. It is still being looked into. The only problem that I forsee is as whitlock put it. There really probably wouldn't be enough demand. But, we could really pump it up with a few artciles on the homepage and maybe it could slowly gain ground.
Hopefully we will have some new information on it soon. Also, BTW, macmod will incorporate a gallery soon, so that people can post up pictures of their setups and other things. We are just waiting on a more stable release of the menalto gallery script. B)

i think a real time chatterbox as seen on some blog sites would be sufficiant when demand is low. as demand grows a full fledged app could replace it. maybe running a channel on an irc server such as freeword.nu (great people im sure they wouldn't mind) would be alright.

To use my different IM Apps, I use Adium, It lets you use something like 10 different brands of IM's. We could try emailing them to see if they could make a custom sprocket on their app, that works with the MacMod.com screen names, so that we wouldnt so much have to make an application, but a script.
I love it too. I have been looking for an app that lets you connect to all your SNs at once! It is soooo sooo soo much better! Anyway, does anyone know if they would be able to get us that info. Thanx.
