Hi,

im new here and want to say hi.
I like ur website/forum,and i always like the look of some mac's.
I rescued a G3 Power-Mac from being destructed, as a company was
trowing out there older models.
I got this one (with the green front)

I have taken everything apart and cleaned.
I want to do a full mod with side-window,paint, fans, chassis, led's, meters on front etc.
And im going to fit a socket 754 mainboard and an A64.
I "think" it looks cool/unique and will be perfect for my linux needs.

Is it ok if i start posting pic's here on how i get on ?
Even if its not a mac no more.....?

EDIT: Does anyone know the pin layout of the ide/power/reset cable running from the power switch to the mobo?

yes, you are more than welcome to post pictures of the mod. If you would like to make a mod guide as well, would would be willing to host it on the site for others to view.

i changed the link.....
I go and get a dremel on friday, because my other noname one is broken.
I will start posting over the weekend with a few pics and descriptions,
not sure if can make up a guide but nice pics say more than 1000 words.

I measured all components (new mobo, vga, case, etc) and they will fit nicely.
I hope i get this thing up and running in 4-5 weeks.
And if im lucky i dont have to much trouble modifying the cases backpanel and
fitting an atx mainboard holder.

I do this just for fun, because i like the look of the case, maybe in a nice silver/black/carbon optic, illuminated with a window....... :rolleyes:

please consider making a mod guide for this. If you take plenty of pics, all you have to do is explain what you did between each step. This would be really nice for other attempting to do mods to this case.

from the sounds of what you want to do I would say you should checkout Yoshi's forum (the guy from screen savers that does all the tweaks and mods). lots of great info for modders.

couldnt wait till friday (highly motivated) and went to a DIY-store and
bought a dremel pro + set of equipment.
Got my mothers Cybershot (P72) digi cam and made a few snapshots.
I started to test my new tool and grinded my G3 a nice window .

For linux, you could just use Yellow Dog Linux which works with Macs. I am only guessing it would work for a G3 stating it works for laptops and other specialty macs. It might save you money on moddding it out just to use a linux made for mac rather than redo it with pc... although the idea is much much cooler.
