I'd been thinking about doing another mod to my QS and in the course of planning it google directed me to this site a few times, so I thought I'd swing by, now that the mod is done, and post a link to some pics:

Very nice case Elroy! I like how you painted the mesh as well, not messing with an unfinished look. And it does look like you painted the Apple, though cannot tell with the picture. Also, you should post up your pics here as well, could always use another mod on the site.

yes, please consider submitting a mod guide for macmod. It will help with advertising your mod as well as adding to the database of mods already on the site. I would also like to feature this mod as mod of the week if you are interested. If you can just submit a detailed mod guide, I will review and post it up. Please read the mod guide instructions if you have any questions.
BTW, I truly love this mod. Very nice, resembles the g5.
Cheers, Jacob Thomason

Your mod rocks man. I'd say people with B&W G3 towers should definitely do this mod (I was never a fan of that model). How difficult was it to do this mod and how much did it cost. My G4 tower could use a face lift too.
Thanks for the comments guys, I'll look over that documentation and see what I have to do to put together a guide - although don't hold your breath as I'm pretty busy at the moment.. and extremely slack when it comes to actually writing anything!
The mod cost about $15 (not even) - and that was just for the extra fan and the mesh. I hunted up a manufacturer of perforated sheet metal to ask if they had the address of somewhere that I could purchase their product from in a small (one off) quantity and was pleasantly surprised when the lady on the phone said that I was able to walk into the factory and get whatever I wanted directly from their 'off cuts' rack - so, in the end the sheet of metal only ended up costing me $6.60.
Honestly the Mod may look complicated, but it really wasn't - as I said in the description (on the linked page in my original post) all I did to 'shape' the mesh was trace around the top and front plastics and then just cut it out of the mesh in one long strip - then it was just a matter of trimming it and bending it into shape (all done by hand). You just have to be careful with perforated metal because it cuts and bends in unpredictable ways because of the holes.
I've just added some pots to the fan lines so that I can bring the speeds/noise down a little (with so much air flowing through the case now I'm not too concerned about bringing the rates down): anyway - here's a pick of the pot mounts:
very nice addition. I agree that you probably don't need the fans to run quite as fast anymore with all the airflow you are probably getting. This perforated metal is great though. I can only see about 100 options to make a really cool component(s) to match my G5.

I like the pics you took. The give your mods a classy look. My g3 will be getting some similar treatment (mesh). I hope it turns out with the same quality look as yours. -Maestro
