I have a ext firewire drive that is formatted PC so I can move from mac and pc with ease. I have an orange micro PCMCIA card on the thinkpad that I use to connect to the drive. Yesterday I plugged up and it sorta crashed and must have unmounted improperly. The drive now shows 75 gb free (its an 80) and has icons with no icon and a name under each invisible icon made of gibberish. Click them and they dissappear altogether. I used disk utility to "repair" and no luck. Diskwarrior doesn't recognize the drive because it not mac formatted I think. Any solutions out there for me. I have a ton of data I'd rather not lose on there.
nah its a 7200 rpm buslink usb2/firewire400 drive. Not the highest quality drive I'm sure, but I'm totally happy with it and until my pc bodyslammed it, it hasn't had any probs

sounds recoverable. run some utilites, like partition magic to see if you can recover the drive. unfortunatly, the windoze fat32 handling will be better suited for this task. check the header info, run check disks, and all of that. i've recovered from worse.
