I don't think you get it , maybe I am wrong but seems to me he can launch iTunes in different Spaces or even into Expose and still keep the finder .

spaces

Expose

I never tried it - but it seems to me he can launch iTunes into as many spaces or expose for each pane he wants - So if he had 4 libraries , he could keyboard toggle between active Spaces panes and still have the finder ? ?

He couldn't toggle between 4 different libraries using spaces. Yes, he can run iTunes in multiple spaces, but it would have to be running the same library in each one. It's the same iTunes application running in 4 different spaces, not 4 separate instances of iTunes running in 4 separate spaces.

Sure you can , from the link I posted

Quote:
When switching between active applications, either by clicking on icons in the dock, or by pressing ⌘ (Command) + Tab, Spaces will jump to the space to which the chosen application has been assigned.

This is where I am not sure

Under spaces I don't see why you cannot have 4 different libraries open in a chosen space - it is just a link to another library under the spaces scheme

Because you just can't, that's the rules. You obviously don't get what Spaces is all about.

I'm hopping off this merry-go-round. This is ridiculous. If you don't believe me do what I do, take some time and try it out. I don't just pull this crap out of thin air you know.

Sigh.

He's right Carp... you can only run one instance of an app at a time in Mac OS. You can run multiples in Windows though. Spaces just let's you pick the apps you want in that particular space. I couldn't have PhotoShop open in one space with 3 photos open and have it open in another space with 5 other photos. I could choose to have PS open in both with the same pics open. Spaces just lets you group apps so you work better.

Smiles,

In case this got lost in the mess.

Launch iTunes, then hold the Option key down while it's launching, not before you launch it. If you hold the Option key down before launching iTunes it hides the Finder.

I've got another thought - two or three copies of the iTunes program. I do this with Toast and Epson's Print CD. That way I can burn 2 or 3 disks simultaneously and print on 3 printers simultaneously. This is already working for me. SO today I will give this a try.

I thought of that but it's usually too much for the casual user to do. Also if you're using the same preference file making a change in one changes the other, I do it with two different versions of Toast sometimes. Let us know how it goes. I'm also curious though as to why you need to switch libraries on the fly like that so many times a day. Do you have too much music to manage in one library using playlists? We all have our reasons, just curious. smile

I have a solution.

One Mac per library.

I don't think it's a matter of why anymore... more a matter of can it be done.
