Wherever you are on the iPhone, holding down the Power button (top) and then clicking the Home button (front) briefly, then letting go of both, takes a screenshot. The resultant image ends up in your camera roll, with a .PNG extension instead of jpg, for some reason - and yes, it's in CAPITALS which means you have to remember that (or edit it) if you ftp it somewhere and link to it.
Getting it off your phone is a palaver if you're not jailbroken (I am). USB cable and Grab are the easiest way, or you can email it to yourself!
