Sometimes I long for the days gone past...when beatnic's were cool...1950ish...coffee (and sometimes tea) houses were abundent where young poets could present their works in front of a group of beatnics clad in their sometimes unwashed sweat shirts, sipping the newest rage in coffee...expresso so thick one could had to use a spoon to get a taste....carrols tea house, just off rt 29 near the U or VA campus was my favorite pad...carrols moved several times..building and all...was the first place that allowed me to pick and grin....for free no less...beatnics had less money than the later hippies
