Not really.. let's see...approx. $50.00 for my internet connection and approx. $30.00 for streamed copntent to my tv...is about $70.00 less than I pay for 400+ channels that I now have... and don't watch 390 of them.
I am similar but I pay a little more for RR Turbo and 3 top boxes NO premium channels
Thats what I mean you still paying about 80 bucks , your just changing content service . Now if Apple offers way better content , which we don't know what that is yet , then sure make the switch . I suspect Apple will let you choose your own basic channels but I betcha they will charge extra for the premium ones .

My current cable bill, including internet, is $142/month before all of the extra fees and taxes. If I could dump the cable TV and go with a pick and choose plan buffet kind of deal and only pay for what I actually watch I'd be paying 1/2 that per month.
Time price for basic cable is 49.95 with 200 channels and free HD
again Apple we have no idea on how many free channels or free HD ? or even what the choices are . So really even at 30 bucks we don't know what you get at this time , I suspect bare bones with the ability to chose what channels you want . But it is a wait and see what Apple will offer

I totaled up everything that Brighthouse is charging me (and in spite of what they say, HD is not free once you pay for the HD DVR service which is applied in addition to the DVR service charge. My base rate is 44.99/month and HBO is 14.95/month. If Apple can deliver only what I want to watch, on demand, for $30/month, I'd still be ahead.
My total extra fees for cable are $34/month and other taxes and fees total another $15/month.
If that what really is Apple intent - like I said , bet on basic channels from Apple that you can chose from
I seriously don't think Apple will offer HBO and other premium channels for free either after all Apple has to pay for that service - You might get the Itunes selections for a small fee ?
Then theres how it works ?
If you cancel your cable service , would they want their HD DVR , Top Box back ? ? So then people will need to buy , I guess Apple TV box to replace it . <-- then the specter if you bought a bundle -> HD TV , internet and phone , you may now lose that savings which could wash out switching to Apple service ?
