One of many reasons I reformatted my hard drive on my iMac and went back to Leopard. Snow Leopard is good but has to many problems at the time I will wait until the bugs are worked out. I believe that Apple rushed this OS update out the door to soon because of Win 7 release. Snow Leopard seems more like Beta and charging $29.00 for a buggy upgrade is not worth it,it should have been free iMac's have problems starting up shutting down freezing for no reason. I run Snow Leopard from a firewire drive and once the bugs are out I will CC it to my main hard drive.
I would say the flakiness added by Snow Leopard and the flakiness erased, Snow Leopard wins big time. My airport was not connecting but seems to have fixed itself and is now better than before. My Time Machine now seems very usable and does not slow down anything I am doing. All in all with SL on a computer it seems brand new. All around speedy.
I am now at data files with Safari that I don't think could have worked before, They are over ten thousand characters wide. Actually this leads to a question. If I have a tone of text (happens to be all AGC or T) how to I make sure it is displayed in non proportional font? Monaco or Courier would do.
[edit] Nevermind on the nonproportional. BODY { font-size:10pt; font-family:'monospace'; } should cover that problem.
I don't think I have done a clean wipe and install on a Macintosh. Maybe prior to OS 4.3. With OS X it seems illogical but a few restarts seem to clean up any buggy thing like my airport not connecting automatically. The scripts that fire off on shutdown and restart are getting longer and longer as they check stuff and put switches and code back in the right place. It was about a week of having to manually hook to airport then its been gone for quite a while now.
For Finder Weirdness I would delete prefs and do some restarts.
