I think the stern man is in the bow and the Captain is giving directions. No money goes into the skiff or the oarlocks but the boat they are paddling to is all set to pull pots.

I just finished reading "The Secret Life of The Lobster" and am now fascinated about these large bugs that are so tasty. I'll grill some this weekend and take a photo.

ps. Boat ramp behind them. Notice how low the tide is? The high low difference on average here in the Western end of the Gulf of Maine is eleven feet. Down Maine it is even bigger.

from Cinque Terre (Italy) using the 15 second exposure setting and a gorilla tripod:

that's from our apartment towards the sea. this is from the same apartment in the other direction during the day:

and this is in a holy basilica in Milan . . . something just didn't seem right about this scene. also, this is a slower exposure, non-flashed -- you can see the poor quality of the guy who moved a bit in the background. no tripod used here:

--
[color:red] Kansas Jayhawks -- 2008 National Champions

"our apartment view at night" did not load. "Question Mark."

Nice pics. The votive candles reminds me of what I picked up at the Rockport dump swap area. I have picked up three old chairs and a table already but I cleaned up with boxes of votive candles. 96 total. They come with the glass and a half burned candle. Had to have come from the Catholic Church. As I was walking out with them an old lady said, "oh you are going to very blessed tonight." I replied, "You aren't kidding, this is for a satanic incantation."

"Oh the lightening is going to strike you!" (But she was laughing when she said it.)

Neverending means neverending.

They were shooting a movie last week a few doors down from me. "Hatteras Hotel". A murder mystery. I think I will wait for the DVD. We were driving in and it looked like the whole street was ablaze in lights. I think they were doing a day shot inside the house at night.

In April it will be the neverending Panasonic Lumix TZ7 thread. Wider angle, longer zoom, stereo microphone and wind cut off makes the HD movie a smoother possibility.

TZ7 at DPreview.

Granite. All of Cape Ann is a knob of granite and there are just a few sandy beaches. That photo is the granite ledge sliding into the water. Great scuba diving just 50 yards out as it is 60 feet deep. The water stays crystal clear because there is no sand in the surf. Closest sediment is the mouth of the Essex river which is about 25 miles away.

There were two granite companies in town which supplied the Washington Monument, Broadway Avenue cobbles and a lot more in between.

The Hatteras Hotel was renamed The Last Harbor.
