I have been changing passwords, I notified my cards and banks, and I have had an insurance policy on my identity for several years. They call my cell when I try to make some purchases, just to be sure it is really me.
Cops and insurance adjuster are strong that the thieves will wipe the drives for a quick sale rather than try extended cyber-monkeyshines. I think I'm pretty well entrenched now, just waiting for the enemy fire to commence.
I installed a pretty good new lock on the door they came through, and The Marine got past it in about 5 seconds. We took it apart and re-engineered it, and she gave up on my improvements after a half hour.

Windows are all either in front of house on street side, or elevated. Door glass is shatter-resistant double paned. Interior security which works only if I am present, is by Browning, Mannlicher-Bertier, Colt, Toledo, etc.

Congrats on the forthcoming MacBook, yoyo! Maybe when I get my BSIT degree I'll buy a new one. Got a letter from college today telling me that since I have over 90 credits now, I need to contact an advisor for an appointment to see what else I need to finish my degree. WOOT! Almost there, almost there... Maybe I'll buy myself a new MacBook as a graduation present.
Still using my son's old, broken MacBook (of course, I have an old 2006 Mac Pro desktop as my main Mac, so I'm OK). The cracked MacBook just had another hissy fit in Windows XP where the mouse pointer turned into a wiggly square box and wouldn't click on anything. Couldn't even click the Start button to shut it off (clicking on start to stop is so freakin' weird - never will get used to that). Had to force a shutdown and restart. All is well now for me to continue doing my multimedia homework.
Dropping MacBooks on tiled floors isn't good for them, at least the old plastic MacBooks, like this one is. It's cracked and stuff and the video goes whacky. But it works. I like to use two Macs at the same time when I'm doing my homework. One as a reference source and one to do the actual work on. OK, back to work. See ya!

You deserve a new one, Donna!
My current laptop from school is a PB, and one day as I was getting out of my car, I swung my book bag to get it on my shoulder, and out popped the PB. It hit the asphalt and skittered about 15 or so feet. It was sleeping, so I opened it right away to see if things were ok. Fine. The left front corner is banged up, but that's it for damage. I'll have to be more careful with the MB
