Can we have a voluntary rule or ‘practice’ that patrons wishing to take part in a discussion indicate up front how many posts they intend to contribute to the thread? Those who wish to comment on, let’s say, a fairly superficial level could possibly confine themselves to just one post per thread. It doesn't matter greatly what reason's given or how it’s dressed up - if they just say something like “this will be my only post in this thread” then it will leave it open for those wishing to have a deeper discussion? Some patrons have already started doing it. Obviously it wouldn't need to be binding and patrons could always come back in if they changed their mind.
I intend make this one of two posts in this thread.
**Edit - since I set the number of posts in stone with my original post, and not wanting to break the rule I'd like to say I miscalculated in the original post. Please ignore post #3, and follow the posts 1 - 2 - 4 - 5. Thanks.
