I knew that was going to come up. Minority viewpoints are needed. Truly. But.. I didn't say trample those in the minority. Expect to get trampled. Especially with your lack of tact. Instead of winning people over to your way of thinking you burst into the room and let off a fart.
But that Galileo was scientific truth -vs- Religious truth or their understanding of the scriptures
And Keymaker's last post which he was entirely shat upon was about McChrystal's great and stupid idea of ordering 40,000 more of our infantry into Afghanistan. I find many of Keymaker's thread starters irritating but many times they make me think of the other viewpoint. For instance how it would be like to be a Palestinian living in the Gaza strip. I would hate Israelis as much as I hate Al Queda if I lived there. Keymaker brings that irritating viewpoint to the soapbox. We need that minority viewpoint.
Can't seem to think of any that he has started about religious truths or scriptures.
[edit] Sorry, now I get it. But it was not science verses scripture at the time. It was heresy vs the known truth at the time. Sort of like Keymaker's posts. Keymaker is shouted down spouting heresy against the majority opinion. That is exactly what was done to Galileo. There is no difference.
