And anecdotally speaking of o'l Albert... In '68, during my frosh year at the MA College of art, I lived in a building across the intersection (at the Boston/Brookline border) from a building one of his victims lived in. That winter, [I forget which studio] was filing the movie with Tony Curtis, and they were shooting in and around that building, but not before the crew spent two days removing snow, chipping away every last particle of ice, and hot-gluing fake leaves to the bare trees, because that particular investigation took place in the summer!
Then a few years later, a lifelong friend of mine graduated college with a degree in criminal psychology. His first gig out of school was at Walpole State Prison (now bucolically renamed Cedar Junction ), where one of the inmates assigned to him for counseling was DeSalvo!
