Burned out power supply. I don't know if a power failure did it or just old age. A new power supply is a bit too expensive, and I'm not even including the installation (which I could never do myself). I managed to get the HD out safely and put it in an external (Firewire 400) drive to have access to all my data. It's a shame to have to part with the machine but there's not much more I can do about it. [sigh]

I don't think that's going to happen. I'd rather see a 'price drop' in the 'improved iMac' Line. It'd be nice to have an iMac below $1,000. I also like to see a 20" iMacs with a dedicated video card/chip.
Well this is what I was waiting for... we'll see. If they're not boosted (computing power wise) significantly, my next Mac will be a Quad Pro. IF they are significantly better - then I have a decision to make. I think I'll probably end up with the Quad, but not before the next upgrade in the Pro line.

I agree
Even now them iMacs run really hot , I imagine even hotter with a dedicated graphics card ? All they need is some extra slots cut into the back to get some air .
