I made no personal attacks or ridicule in regards to anyone here but it seems most that replied don't offer the same courtesy.
If you're all trying to make a point as to your opinion you didn't do well. Seems most here still haven't learned yet that ridicule is not the way to get your point across. I don't feel like wading through the muck to find the few constructive bits.
Yeah, I skimmed it and only pulled out what I needed because I know nobody else here read it all so I could pull the wool over your eyes.
Now didn't that sound as dumb as your question?
To answer it though, no I read it, I just took it as his usual self serving droning mixed in.
Not too bad but you did say he asked a dumb question. The problem Reboot is with your original statement ...
” I figured he politicize it, he did it in the sense that he was campaigning for himself by blowing his own horn. The majority here probably didn't look at it like that but that's what it is. Be honest.”
No, that’s not what it was… it’s what you saw !!
and past Presidents have never done this... it's all how you frame it... he included 5 other people like himself... that's not egotistical or narcissis which is "only me!" He's saying I did it so can you, it's empathy, it's "I've been there too, like you". The other arguments are so baseless Reboot, esp from the talking heads who know better but do nothing but inspire hate, and distrust. oh those are good American, Christain values !

I have no point to make other than your statement he should have used examples of other people overcoming hard times instead of just rambling about himself, and indeed there were 5 specific examples included in his speech.
Hence the "dumb" question if you really read the speech or not. Dumb statements lead to dumb questions I suppose.
Lots of republicans gave it praise. Laura Bush liked it. Newt Gingrich liked it. It was a great speech. Honest!
