The animal control guy just picked up two more of them from the traps he set, which brings the total to three, as far as I know. I was really hoping that he'd get here sometime tonight, rather than having them be in the traps until tomorrow. He was out there with a flashlight just now, checking all the traps, but I saw the cute little buggers in there when I got home from work. A trap on my front steps (which have collapsed due to chipmunks tunneling under them) and the trap next to the back steps had chipmunks in them when I got home from work today. He'll be trapping them until Monday. Then, I'll have to not only have the front brick steps replaced, but also the front door sill (and perhaps that section of the house sill) replaced. Because the steps collapsed backward, towards the house, all the rainwater and snow has been directed towards the house instead of away from it, and rot has set in. The whole front door and frame is warped, too, so that will need to be replaced. Along with the framing, most likely. And the siding.

The chipmunks will surely meet a fate that is more humane than that poor baby boy had to endure at the hands of his own mother. His own mother. The only person whose heartbeat he's known since he was in her womb. Don't get me going, macbeemer! ;-)
