Don't know where to exactly put this because it can go several places but I'm putting it her because of the reference to the iPod Touch... a GIANT iPod Touch.

iTablet = 10" iPod Touch

VERY interesting if true... not just the tablet but the cost of operation and choice of carriers.

Given the choice between a MacBook or a 10" iTouch, I'd be inclined to get the iTouch. It seems to be a natural progression from the current iPod Touch to a 10" product.

I still think $800 is too much. If they can bring it in at $699 or less, they'll sell millions of 'em.

If Apple pulls off a Verizon-partnership, I may get in on this.
The AT&T partnership is the only reason why I held off on getting an iPhone.
But, yeah, $800 is a bit too steep. Make it $600!
But knowing Apple's pricing that's pro'lly not gonna happen...

I can't figure out the portability of the tablet. It'll be too big to carry everywhere like the iPhone/iPod. And if it gets limited transport like the laptop, what's the point? I guess for those who carry purses it'll work...

It would be a great way to show stuff to clients... but you are correct.
A 13" MBP would do just as well.

I had not consumed any coffee when I posted that... and I think cooler heads will prevail and I will make do with what I have now.
Besides.. I would need to get a wheelie cart thingie to carry my stuff if I got that too! ..LOL

1. I think the advantage would be that unlike the MacBook you could connect anywhere to the internet like the iPhone. You don't have to be in a WiFi zone.

2. Plus it's touch screen, most laptops aren't.

Don't get me wrong, I want it to succeed, and I'm sure it will to a degree. I just don't see myself as a good candidate.

To your points: connectivity - true, it's nice to not have to rely on hotspots. But there are accessories out there that allow your laptop to utilize cell-phone providers.

As for the touchscreen, I don't see that as a plus for those who use a keyboard. If you do business writing, a true keyboard is superior to a touchscreen. Now maybe for creative applications, like working in Photoshop, a touchscreen might be awesome.

Gaming - absolutely!

Probably it's biggest success will be found in downloading books, magazines, and other media that currently rely on paper. Even videos and movies will succeed much better on this tablet than an iPod or iPhone. You just lose too much of the experience when the screen is too small.

Yeah I agree about the keyboard... funny how we're accustomed to the feel of keys and not flat digital icons.

BUT HEY ! I could could come up with 2 real reasons and needed a 3rd !!

and I also agree on the media use: books, magazines, movies, music, porn
