. "I'm also grappling with the possibility of putting an SSD drive for a boot. You can get them for around $250.00 now for 128GB."
SSDs are amazing. If you are in the need for speed, SSDs are certainly the way to go. When I was looking at them the largest was 80GB for $250. If the 160GB was available a few weeks ago I probably would have bought it.
I've noticed that a number of people have had problems with "sleep mode" because of SSDs. You'll see what I am saying if you Google it. If you use sleep mode, you may want to check this out.
They're 2.5 form factor so it would fit. I've been reading up on the sleep and OS compatibility issues though, and trouble with newer SSD's if not installing using 10.5.6 or greater as the install disc even though 10.5.1 was the first time SSD's were put in the MBA. Firmware or something needs to be tweaked.
. This is getting interesting. The SSD prices are going down and the storage capacity is going up. I'll wait for 6 months to a year. Some SSD issues may be solved and maybe I'll be getting a larger SSD drive for less money. .
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
