I always suspected the hardware costs were around the subsidized prices (i.e. I would have guessed $200-$300) ... even with manufacturing/shipping/promotional costs, the quoted "unsubsidized" prices of $600-$800 seemed unreasonably high and just leaves me to believe there's hefty margins at work -- more for Apple but I bet AT&T is recovering their subsidy a lot sooner than 18 months ...
