Saw Star Trek , yeah I know I am late for this party - but what a great prequel , good story , good villain casting . The only odd thing is Spock and Ohura making out , I mean don't Vulcans mate like once every 7 years and they suppress their emotions ? Humm maybe thats the human half showing ?
How the hell should I know how often some dude mates??? What the hell are you even talking about, what's an "Ohura?" Is that some Hawaiian toad or something?
Tell you what, I'm taking 20 points off your man card just for saying "mate" instead of screw, and for even knowing as much about Star Trek as you apparently do.

I finally saw it last week and really enjoyed it. I was never a fanatical trekkie ('scuse me, trekker) but I grew up on the original series and watched most of the movies and about half of the other TV series. I actually prefer The Next Generation since the stories and acting were much better. I've heard that the Enterprise series started off rocky and really improved before it was cancelled so I wouldn't mind seeing that.
I went with one of my kids and kept telling her how I was getting much more out of the movie since I knew the background. How Pike was the Captain on the unaired original pilot (later reworked as "The Menagerie").
If you google Spoke, Ohura and romance, you'll find there were a couple of hints in the original series of a romantic connection between the two.
It was kinda funny to see how they brought back the Rodenberry mini-skirts in the movie. Rodenberry was pretty much a pig when it came to women and wanted them to show as much leg as possible.

That was the hit of the week for me when I was a lad. I waited all week for it. Didn't it air on Wednesday. Thinking it did.
I liked the short costumes back then. Bout all the erotic stuff I got to see out on the farm. Well, we did have a large seleciton of Nat Geos around and also a hard back gook about Africa that had lots of skin.
